Find Your Why!

All to often I find myself working out to just get the workout done. There's no method behind it. I guilt myself into working out. There is even times I tell myself. "Well if I workout today I can eat this or that..." I know I am not the only one who has thought this way. But here's the thing, where's that going to get us? Will we make progress or just stay the same, even go the opposite way we want to?
We need to find our why to get where we want to be. We already know our what, working out, getting fit, being healthy, but what's our why? Why do we workout, why are we getting fit, or why do we want to be healthy? When we find our why, our what means so much more.
We have a purpose!

For me personally my what is leading a healthy, fit lifestyle. My why is summed up in this picture below.

  1. You make some good points. The reasons "why" we do things are not always clear. But in the case of working out in relation to the picture you shared, I would say that the "why" is based off the "what" in the aim to be healthy and fit. I like what you said about progress and it being at a stand still or going the opposite way. I think that statement is absolutely true. In the journey to become fit and healthy you can't really just eat whatever you want and think that your basic everyday workout will be enough to keep you healthy. Eventually your body will adjust to those methods and put you at a stand still and just put you into bad habits.

  2. i really enjoyed reading this, to me it highlighted in a very philosophical way how many people thing and feel about working out. I to feel the same when i work out most of the time i force myself to go and end up doing a nonchalant workout. Great read

  3. Super cool way of looking at it Kylie! I definitely can compare, most of the time I love working out because it's my de-stressor and makes me feel energized and motivated, but sometimes I dread heading for that run! But you are totally right if we can find a why then it won't be so hard to do our what! And your what seems to be a lot like mine! I know after my surgery it was so hard to complete even one lap around the track but I remembered HE overcame so we could overcome life's obstacles and it slowly became easier to finish each lap.

  4. I completely agree with you and found that I could really personally relate to your blog post. There have been many moments in my life when I work out just so I can look a certain way or lose weight. I was someone that used to be very overweight in my teen years, so body image and comparison were something that was imbedded into my brain. It wasn't until I found my purpose that i enjoyed the process of my workout and respected my body. I decided that when I started working to please God and taking care myself because of Him, my world completely changed. There is no other one person in the world like us and it took me years to understand that God made my body a certain way for a reason and I better take care of it! Thanks for this post, it really hit home for me.

  5. This is awesome. Finding your WHY, watch the video with Eric Thomas, he is a motivational speaker who in one of his videos talks about WHY you are doing this. For me when I was in high school baseball and football were very important to me. I worked out almost everyday to try to become the best athlete I could at my high school. That was my WHY, your WHY drives you into that directions. Your WHY is what motivates you. So when you get down and go through the routines, think about what it is that you are doing. Just like school related, yea you wake up, go to school, learn a few things, study, and you can go to sleep miserable. But remember WHY you are going to school, to get an education, get a job, support yourself and your future family if possible. Don't lose sight of your WHY.
